Last Monday (1/8/2022) BPS Jambi Province released Jambi Province export figures. For June 2022, Jambi Province's export performance shot up more than 20 percent to 308.45 million USD when compared to the export value of May 2022 which was only 255.46 million USD.
Of course, this is encouraging in the midst of uncertain global market conditions due to several events such as the Russian invasion of Ukraine and minor shocks to the economies of western countries.
Of that amount, in June 2022 the mining commodity group has the largest share/role, which is 66.03 percent or worth 203.66 million USD. The mining commodity group in question is oil and gas and other mining such as coal.
Oil and gas commodities contributed 54.00 percent or USD 166.56 million from the total exports of Jambi Province in June 2022 and coal contributed 12.03 percent.
However, outside the commodity group, there are other commodities that contribute quite a lot to the export value of Jambi Province in June 2022. In fact, the share given is greater than the share of coal. The commodities referred to are rubber commodities and their processed products and vegetable oil commodities.
Rubber and its products in June 2022 contributed 15.34 percent of exports or worth 47.30 million USD. With this value, rubber and its processed commodities are in the second largest position for the total export value of Jambi Province in June 2022.
While in the third position, vegetable oil commodities also outperformed coal commodities with a total share of 12.46 percent. Only about 0.43 basis points adrift with coal. The value is also slightly adrift, which is USD 38.43 million for vegetable oil while coal is USD 37.09 million.
Despite the large value, the change in the export value of oil and gas commodities was only 17.63 percent compared to May 2022. In contrast to vegetable oil, the change in export value compared to May 2022 reached 144.58 percent. The highest compared to other commodity groups. However, with this good performance, vegetable oil has not been able to move up to the top three commodities with the largest share throughout 2022 (until June 2022), namely oil and gas (50.99 percent), rubber and its derivatives (17.34 percent), and coal ( 11.63 percent). Meanwhile, vegetable oil occupies the fourth position with a share of 11.06 percent, followed by areca nut commodities at 5.05 percent. (Jambi/Nerwilis data)
