Census in Color Perspective

Who does not know color, even black and white are colors. Color provides elements of joy, beauty, peace, tranquility, fear, sadness, hatred, and even hope. Color contains a psychological element in the space of life. Each color can cause different psychological effects for humans. Color can evoke or dim emotions, and conversely, the depiction of a person's emotion or mood can be expressed through the color of the clothes he wears, or the color of the walls of the room he chooses. Even marketing strategies also use color psychology in attracting consumers. According to experts, color can be defined object/physically as the nature of the light emitted, or subjectively/psychologically as part of the experience of the sense of sight. Color is the impression that the eye gets from light reflected by familiar objects. So, there are three important elements of color, namely objects, eyes, and elements of light.

BPS Talking Color

Talking about color, BPS also takes part in the census activities which are its main duties and responsibilities. There are three census activities carried out by BPS, namely the Population Census, Economic Census, and Agricultural Census. This is also the meaning of the colors of the BPS logo, B is blue, P is green, and S is orange. Each census is conducted every ten years. The population census is carried out in every year ending in 0, the last is 2020. The economic census is carried out in every year ending in 6, and the agricultural census is in every year ending in 3. In the perspective of color, the population census is identical to the color blue. Blue is synonymous with the color of trust and responsibility, honesty, and trust. Perhaps BPS uses the color blue so that the entire population believes and is willing to take the census, and answer questions honestly. The census officer also carried out with full responsibility. The results of the latest population census, namely SP2020, recorded the population of Jambi as many as 3.55 million people. The productive age group (15-64 years) dominates at 69.15 percent. The economic census (SE) is denoted by the color orange. This color is the color of social communication and a carrier of optimism. Orange radiates warmth and happiness, and helps to lift spirits. Perhaps this can be related to the difficulty of carrying out the economic census that must be carried out by officers. As is known, the economic census is a collection of data for all economic business units, whether individuals, private companies or companies, on a micro, small, medium and large scale. The results of the last SE, namely SE2016, the business world in Jambi is still dominated by Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK). The number of businesses reached more than 311 thousand businesses or 98.9 percent of the total non-agricultural businesses. MSEs are able to absorb more than 718 thousand workers or about 86 percent of the total non-agricultural workforce.

Welcoming the 2023 Agricultural Census

In 2023, BPS throughout Indonesia will conduct agricultural censuses. The agricultural census is colored by the green, which is the color of balance, growth, and the color of nature. Perhaps this is because the agricultural census records all agricultural activities, be it food crop farming, plantations, horticulture, forestry, fisheries, and animal husbandry. Preparations for the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST) have been carried out since 2022. These include updating the geospatial framework and contents of the ST2023 wilkerstat, as well as updating the directory of agricultural companies (DPP) and other agricultural businesses (UTL). The ST2023 socialization has also started to be carried out by BPS, both at the central, provincial, and district/city levels. For example through banners, banners, posters, social media, electronic media, and so on. The results of the 2013 agricultural census showed that the number of agricultural business households in Jambi was 431,589 households, which were dominated by the plantation and food crops sub-sector. Then, how about ten years later, namely next year? We are waiting for the results at ST2023. Let's make the 2023 agricultural census a success.
