The Key to Happy Indonesian Society

August 24, 2022 | Other Activities

The Indonesian people again commemorate the 77th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022. The official theme is “Recover Faster, Rise Stronger”. This theme is seen as a challenge to change a bad situation to a better one in a short time. Apart from being a challenge, the theme of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia is also an invitation not to remain silent from ordinary existence to a solid civilization, especially after in the last 2 years Indonesia and other global communities have experienced a downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Is the challenge to recover and the call to rise a call for the Indonesian people to be economically independent and have a quality of life? Judging from Indonesia's economic growth in 2022, it reached 5.22 percent until the second quarter and could be said to be better than in 2020, which experienced an economic decline of -2.07 percent and in 2021 by 3.69%. Meanwhile, at the world level, our country is ranked 15th with a GDP of USD 1.05 billion (Rp 4,513 trillion) in the first quarter of 2022. We are also grateful that Indonesia's economic growth achievement was also contributed by exports of commodity products such as coal, nickel, and palm oil to various countries in the world is quite large, although palm oil products were banned for export due to the scarcity of cooking oil and high oil prices, a few months ago. The improvement in the Indonesian economy, at least can also be felt by the majority of the community, although on the other hand, there are individuals who do not feel the economic improvement that can actually affect the level and order of a happy life or the welfare of the community itself.

BPS Indonesia considers that the level or index of happiness can be measured by conducting a survey conducted since 2012. In 2021, BPS will conduct a Happiness Level Measurement Survey (SPTK) simultaneously in 34 provinces using the Sampling Method with a total of 75,000 households spread across the globe. Indonesia. In Jambi Province, the results obtained from the SPTK show that the happiness level of the Jambi population has increased by 4.72 points or reached 7.17 points when compared to the last survey conducted in 2017 with an average value of 70.45 points. The results of this SPTK also place Jambi Province as the 4th highest ranking in the happiness index value with a life satisfaction dimension index of 76.70 and personal life satisfaction of 72. Meanwhile, the feeling dimension index and the life expectancy dimension index are 73.15, respectively. and 75.44. From the results of SPTK Jambi Province, it is also stated that the relationship between a high happiness index is due to the relatively low number or percentage of the poor population so that in general it shows that low poverty (welfare) has an impact on the level of individual happiness. At the end of the SPTK report, Jambi Province stated that there was a positive relationship between the Happiness Index and the Human Development Index, which could be measured through three dimensions, namely health, education and the economy. The higher the achievement of these three dimensions, the higher the individual happiness index. Regarding social conditions and their relationship to happiness, it is something that needs to be considered because the ease of getting access to health and education services in Jambi Province has provided a higher indicator of satisfaction with education and health. The World Happiness Foundation says that an inclusive society is one that is accessible (so) everyone should have access to the tools and resources they need for a thriving life. Indonesia, which wants to recover faster and rise stronger, should be able to provide the access needed by the community to support Indonesian people who have excellent health, excel in education and qualified skills, as well as balanced welfare. Congratulations on Recovering Faster, Rising Stronger, Indonesia Greater.
