Merdeka Campus Independent Learning Program Will Be Present at BPS Jambi Province

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jambi Province is a partner in the implementation of the Merdeka Learning Program for the Independent Campus (MBKM) at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Jambi University.

MBKM is a program from Nadiem Makarim as Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia which aims to encourage students to master various sciences as capital in entering the job market.

The mandate of the Minister of Education and Culture Number 3 of 2020 concerning National Standards for Higher Education states that universities are obliged to facilitate the right for students (can be taken or not) to be able to take credits outside universities for a maximum of 2 semesters or equivalent to 40 credits and or can take credits in the program. 1 semester of different studies at the same university or equivalent to 20 credits.

In addition, the Permendikbud also instructs universities to develop academic policies/guidelines to facilitate learning activities outside of the study program and to make documents for collaboration with partners who are the learning sites for the MBKM program.

In supporting the implementation of MBKM learning, the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Jambi established a partnership with BPS Jambi Province to place a number of students doing internships within the BPS Jambi Province.

One of the first steps is the need to develop a curriculum that students take while studying at BPS.

So that on Monday, September 19, 2022, Jambi University held a Training on Updating the MBKM Curriculum for the Mathematics Study Program at Jambi University in the Context of Accelerating the Development of Higher Education Curriculum in Collaboration with Partners towards the Center of Excellence. The training presented 2 resource persons, namely DR Kiki Ariyanti Sugeng from the University of Indonesia and Hilda Assiyatun, M.Si, Ph.D from the Bandung Institute of Technology.

As participants in the training were all heads of study programs and the academic community at the faculty of science and technology, research and community service institutions (LPMP) Jambi University and BPS Jambi Province.

From the results of the discussion with the 2 resource persons, several formulations have been formulated, including the focus of the MBKM activity program is to produce learning outcomes (Learning Outcomes) where the college curriculum is basically not just a collection of courses.

However, it is the design of a series of educational or learning processes to produce learning outcomes (Learning Outcomes), the weighting of MBKM activities can be carried out in two forms, namely free form by converting activities into hard skills and soft skills or the second form of weighting. is a structured form (structure form).

Where, activities are synchronized with the courses in each study program, and it is necessary to establish a curriculum structure diagram and benchmarking to other more established study programs or universities.
