BPS Jambi Province released the result of Long Form SP2020

February 3, 2023 | BPS Activities

The 2020 Population Census (SP2020) is Indonesia's effort towards one population data. The series of SP2020 activities were carried out in two stages. The first stage is population data collection using the short form and other instruments that have been implemented in 2020. The next stage is in the form of a sample census as a continuation of the population census using a questionnaire containing more and more complex questions or known as the SP2020 Long Form Data Collection. The Long Form SP2020 which will be implemented in 2022, is a form of support from the Central Statistics Agency in the National Priority Program (PN) 3, namely Improving Quality and Competitive Human Resources. The Big Mission of the Long Form SP2020 includes 1) Benchmark of Indonesian population indicators; 2) A Portrait of Indonesian Demographics after going through the 2nd wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic; 3) Evaluation of development achievements in the population sector in the SDGs and RPJMN; and 4) Basis for determining development policies towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

The 2020 Population Census Long Form is a survey with the largest number of samples in history, namely 80,957 households which were carried out in all districts/cities in Indonesia. Data generated from the 2020 Population Census Long Form, namely population characteristics, fertility, mortality, mobility, disability, and other data such as housing, education, etc.

The results of the 2020 Population Census Long Form for BPS Jambi Province were released on 1 February 2023 in the hall room of the BPS Jambi Province by inviting the media crew and several OPDs related to the LF results data. The results of the 2020 Population Census Long Form show that Jambi's TFR is 2.28. Jambi's TFR figure continues to decline and is getting closer to the replacement level. Declining fertility results in a decrease in the proportion of children in the population. This condition can result in a lower dependency ratio and create a demographic bonus. More efforts are still needed so that Jambi Province's TFR reaches the Replacement Level (2.1).

Fertility in the adolescent age group has decreased since the 1971 Population Census to LF SP2020. The highest number of births occurred in women aged 25-29 years (130 to 131 births per 1,000 women aged 25-29 years). When compared between districts/cities, the highest fertility rate was in Sarolangun District (TFR 2.64) while the lowest was in Jambi City (TFR 2.08).

During the one-decade period of Indonesia's demographic bonus, the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) continued to decline. IMR fell from 29 per 1000 live births in the 2010 Population Census to 17 per 1000 live births in the Long Form SP 2020. The highest infant mortality rate was in Kerinci Regency (19.60) and the lowest was in Jambi City (13.02). The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) as a result of the 2020 Population Census Long Form for Jambi Province is 177, which means that there were 177 female deaths during pregnancy, during childbirth or during the postpartum period per 100,000 live births. Furthermore, regarding mortality, the Mortality Rate for Children aged 1-4 years is 2.99, which means that there are 2-3 deaths of children aged 1-4 years for one year per 1000 children aged 1-4 years.

Lifetime migration in Jambi Province is 18.17, which means that around 18 out of 100 people in Jambi Province were born in other provinces. Jambi Province's resident migration is 1.59, which means that in 2022, around 1-2 people out of 100 residents of Jambi Province aged 5 years and over lived in another province 5 years earlier (in 2017). The percentage of commuters in Jambi Province is 1.16%, which means that 1 out of 100 residents aged 5 years and over in Jambi Province are active outside the district/city where they live and routinely go home on the same day. The majority of commuters in Jambi Province are male, with a percentage of 69.54 percent.

The results of the Long Form SP2020 Jambi Province recorded that the percentage of the population aged 5 years and over with disabilities by type of disorder ranged from 0.14 percent to 0.56 percent. In general, the most common type of difficulty/disorder is walking/climbing stairs. Information on disability collected in the Long Form SP2020 can be used as an approach in achieving one of the targets in the national action plan for persons with disabilities 2021−2024.

The highest level of education completed is the highest level of education completed by a person, which is indicated by a certificate/diploma. The results of the Long Form SP2020 show that the education level of Jambi residents aged 15 and over is dominated by secondary education. Out of 100 residents aged 15 years and over, there are around 32 people who have graduated from high school/equivalent and only 9 people who have graduated from university.

Indonesia is a country with various ethnic groups, with Indonesian as the unified language.
