Abstract

  • IDI is a composite indicator that shows the level of democratic development in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely Civil Liberty (Civil Liberty), Political Rights (Political Rights), and Democratic Institutions (Institution of Democracy).
  • IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) review of local newspapers, (2) review of documents (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.
  • The 2017 Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) reached 74.12 on a scale of 0 to 100. This number has increased compared to the 2016 IDI figure of 68.89. The achievement of Indonesia's democratic performance is still in the "medium" category. The classification of democratic levels is grouped into three categories, namely "good" (index> 80), "medium" (index 60 - 80), and "bad" (index <60).
  • Changes in the number of Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) from 2016-2017 are influenced by three aspects of democracy, namely (1) Civil Liberties which rose 2.42 points (from 84.39 to 86.81), (2) Political Rights dropped 3.55 points (from 65.63 to 62.08), and (3) Democratic Institutions which rose 20.69 points (from 54.58 to 77.27).
