The Need for Digital Literacy in Full River City in the Industrial Age 4.0

The 4th industrial revolution or known as the industrial era 4.0 is not a foreign term to hear. The digital era, where technology is developing rapidly and has affected various aspects of life. People need to know literacy, especially digital literacy to be able to survive and compete in the industrial era 4.0.

According to the Big Indonesian Dictionary (KBBI), literacy is an individual's ability and skill in language which includes reading, writing, speaking, calculating and solving problems at a certain level of expertise needed in everyday life.

According to UNESCO, the concept of digital literacy itself refers to efforts to understand communication and information technology devices.

Digital literacy requires humans to be able to use and analyze information from digital technology.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Sungai Penuh City, in 2021, the percentage of cellphone or computer users in Sungai Penuh City will reach 89.32 percent, while the percentage of residents who access the internet will reach 60.30 percent.

Compared to last year, of course, this number has increased, especially the percentage of the population accessing the internet has always increased in the last 4 years.

Based on this, it can be concluded that the population in Sungai Penuh City is increasingly using cellphones or computers and also more and more people are accessing the internet from year to year. In 2021, the percentage of internet users in Sungai Penuh City will be ranked second in Jambi Province after Jambi City. The use of the internet can not only have a good impact but also a bad impact on society.

Therefore, digital literacy is needed to be able to become a shield from these bad impacts.

Digital literacy is needed by the community, especially the younger generation, to take advantage of existing technology.

Digital literacy is an important provision for the people of Sungai Penuh City to keep pace with rapid technological developments.
