Feeling happy is everyone's right. Happiness can be achieved in simple ways. There are people who are happy when eating, there are happy when they can gather with family. So, what exactly is happiness?
In general, happiness can be interpreted as a person's satisfaction with his life. While biologically, happiness is a feeling that arises from the operation of a biological system consisting of nerves, neurons, synapses and the secretion of the hormones serotonin, oxytocin and dopamine. Meanwhile, according to the KBBI, happiness is the pleasure and tranquility of life physically and mentally.
Since 2014, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) has recorded the level of happiness of the Indonesian people in a measurable manner through the Happiness Level Measurement Survey (SPTK) which is held every 3 years. This Happiness Index uses (1) Life Satisfaction Dimension which consists of 2 (two) subdimensions, namely: Personal Life Satisfaction Subdimensional and Social Life Satisfaction Subdimensional, (2) Affect dimension, and (3) Meaning of life dimension (Eudaimonia). .
In 2021, BPS released Indonesia's happiness index is 71.49, this value has increased by 0.8 points compared to 2017. When viewed from the constituent dimensions, the life satisfaction dimension index is 75.16, the feeling dimension index is 65.61 and The meaning of life dimension index is 73.12.
BPS also measures the Happiness Index by province. Jambi Province is ranked 4th in Indonesia with a Happiness Index of 75.17 and is the happiest province on the island of Sumatra. This shows that the people of Jambi feel comfortable and happy living in Jambi Province.
