The series of activities for the preparation of the Agricultural Census (ST2023) continues.
The construction of the frame that will be used as a prelist for the complete enumeration of agricultural companies and other agricultural businesses in 2023 is currently in the data cleaning stage.
Field activities in the context of Updating the Directory of Agricultural Companies (DPP) and the Directory of Other Agricultural Businesses (DUTL) were carried out last June-July.
To follow up on the results, BPS Jambi Province held an Evaluation of the Results of Updating DPP and DUTL on Friday (16/9/2022) at Aston Jambi Hotel.
In his speech, the Head of the Jambi Province BPS Agus Sudibyo, M.Stat stated that the Agricultural Census does not belong to BPS, all the data that will be produced is owned by all, therefore it needs support from the Agency and Association Services related to these activities.
On this occasion, panel presentations and discussions were also held from the speakers, namely from the Plantation Service and the Jambi Province TPHP Service, as well as from BPS RI and BPS Jambi Province.
The Head of the Jambi Province Plantation Service, Ir H Agusrizal, MM, in his presentation said that the plantation sector, especially oil palm, has a great potential to erode the food crop sector, because in addition to its greater economic value, the management method is also easier than growing rice.
For this reason, the Plantation Service is developing the use of satellite imagery technology to control oil palm plantation areas so that the location and number of oil palm trunks in Jambi Province can be quickly monitored.
Khairul Asrori, SP Head of the Food Crops Office of the TPHP as the second resource person delivered an explanation about efforts to increase corn production in Jambi Province.
This will be related to KSA Corn activities which are routinely carried out by BPS.
In this event, there was also a presentation on the 2023 Agricultural Census by Nopriansyah S.ST, M.Si, the Coordinator of the Production Statistics Function of BPS Jambi Province as well as an explanation of the temporary results of Updating DPP DUTL and Plantation Statistics activities by a team from the Directorate of Horticultural and Plantation Food Crops Statistics BPS RI namely Ir Solimah M.Si, Wahyunindarsih, S.Si, MM and Ucik Mawarsari, S.ST, M.Sc.
Also invited to this event were the Forestry Service, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service, the Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI), the Indonesian Rubber Company Association (GAPKINDO), and the Mainstay Farmers and Fishermen Group (KTNA) as well as the Production Statistics Function of Regency/City BPS in Jambi Province.
As a statistician, you must remain optimistic and always think positively in carrying out your responsibilities, especially in plantation statistics activities where the respondents are companies that are often difficult to penetrate.
We must be able to build relationships with stakeholders and companies and be problem solving with the myriad of data available at BPS.
Agricultural Census Success, Success, Yess!
