The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is a non-departmental institution that is responsible for administering basic statistics. In accordance with Law No. 16/1997 on statistics, BPS has an obligation to conduct census activities.
The censuses under the authority of BPS include the Population Census for each year ending in 0, the Agricultural Census for each year ending in 3 and the Economic Census for the years ending in 6. In 2023, BPS will hold a major event in the agricultural sector, namely the 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023). ). In the context of holding the 2023 Agricultural Census, we have to make various preparations starting from 2022. The aim of the Agricultural Census is to provide agricultural structure data, especially for the smallest administrative units as a benchmark for current agricultural statistics. It also provides a sample frame for further agricultural surveys. The expected outputs from ST2023 include providing comprehensive agricultural data and meeting regional data. In the preparation of ST2023, it is necessary to pay special attention to capturing strategic national agricultural issues that refer to the RPJMN and have an impact on the government's strategic decision making. Coordination and synergy of data with relevant ministries/agencies in the preparation of ST2023, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, and Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries is very necessary. In March 2022, the Wilkerstat ST2023 Geospatial Framework and Payload Update was also carried out to prepare the statistical work area and cargo estimates in Wilkerstat. One of the important series of activities carried out in preparation for ST2023 in 2022 is Updating the Directory of Agricultural Companies (DPP) and the Directory of Other Agricultural Businesses (DUTL). The purpose of this activity is to update the agricultural company directory (DPP) and other company directory (DUTL) to be complete, accurate, in accordance with current conditions. This activity also produced a directory prelist that will be used in the 2023 Agricultural Census. The scope of the DUTL DPP Updating activity includes six agricultural sub-sectors, namely food crops, horticulture, plantations, livestock, fisheries, and forestry. The Directory of Agricultural Companies (DPP) covered are all agricultural companies with legal/business entities. Meanwhile, the Other Business Directory (DUTL) covered are agricultural businesses that are not carried out by agricultural companies with legal entities/businesses or households, such as Islamic boarding schools, military barracks, Gapoktan and others. Jambi Province has also completed the implementation of the DUTL DPP Updating field in June-July 2022. Prior to field implementation, staff training was carried out which included statistical partners and organic employees from all BPS-City districts throughout Jambi Province. This is so that there will be uniformity in concepts and definitions as well as SOPs or procedures for enumeration. In maintaining data quality, monitoring is also carried out in stages. At the district level it is carried out by supervisors (PML) and district supervisors. In addition, field supervision was also carried out by supervisors from BPS Jambi Province and also supervisors from BPS RI. The spirit of success in Updating DPP DUTL towards the 2023 Agricultural Census.
