BPS Jambi Province Collaborates with Information Commission, Learns Public Information Disclosure

As a public body, BPS Ptovinsi Jambi has an obligation to provide information to the public; as stated in Law No. 14 of 2008 concerning Public Information Disclosure. To better understand this, on Thursday (4/8/2022) morning, BPS Jambi Province held a Public Information Disclosure Socialization activity by inviting the Jambi Provincial Information Commission. Agus Sudibyo, Head of BPS Jambi Province said that the main purpose of the activity was to get input regarding what forms of public information disclosure should be displayed on the website and what should not be displayed. In addition, Agus Sudibyo also hopes that the Jambi Province BPS will receive an evaluation or assessment from external parties regarding the disclosure of public information in the context of the achievements of the WBK work unit. This hope was welcomed by Indra Lesmana as the Chair of the Jambi Provincial Information Commission. "We consider the invitation from BPS to be a proactive form of vertical institution in which the institution wants to maximize public information disclosure," said Indra Lesmana opening his presentation. Indra said that every public body has rights and obligations regarding public information. One of its obligations is to provide, open, and provide Public Information quickly and on time, at low cost and in a simple way, except information that is excluded. Regarding this excluded information, it is the right of public bodies to refuse to provide it, as long as it is based on the law. Indra also gave a brief description of how consumers who are dissatisfied with the information service can file an objection and if there is a dispute; KI is present to mediate so that the best solution is obtained. This hybrid activity involves all Heads of BPS and Structural and Functional Officials at BPS Jambi Province and Regency/City. On the occasion, it was also conveyed that the Jambi Province BPS was considered to have carried out transparency and public information disclosure.

But how to make the bias more perfect in public service?

"The solution is to follow our monev (monitoring and evaluation), and we will schedule it for this year," explained Indra. At the end of the session, Agus Sudibyo invited all participants, especially the Head of District/City BPS to jointly improve the implementation of public information disclosure, especially related to statistical data that has been handled by the Integrated Statistical Service (PST). PST as a means of service to the public must continue to be improved in quality towards BPS Jambi Province Corruption Free Area (WBK).
