Liveable City

Cities offer a glimmer of hope because they are at the forefront and have a key role in reversing the post-pandemic situation.

The city can play a transformative role because the city is a narrative that can provide a lot of inspiration for its citizens to take action to repair or restore themselves.

The main impetus to come to the city in pursuit of a better welfare life will continue. The government has the opportunity to take advantage of the transformative process of urbanization towards a livable city to realize prosperity and social justice. The World Cities Report 2020: The Value of Sustainable Urbanization (UN Habitat, 2020) reports that well-planned, designed, built, managed and funded cities can create economic, social, environmental, and urban governance values that are able to withstand disasters. natural (flood, earthquake, storm, tsunami, fire, drought) and non-natural (pandemic, social unrest).

The transformative process of urbanization must be utilized to eradicate poverty, end inequality, reduce unemployment, mitigate climate change, and other global challenges. The United Nations encourages the development of large, medium, small cities, suburbs, to rural areas for a symbiotic relationship of mutualism and mutual strengthening in restoring cities. The city demands the managers to build a better healthy city. Governments can provide a comprehensive, cross-sectoral and multi-stakeholder framework.

Communities can contribute to the transformative process of sustainable urbanization with the spirit of openness, participation, sharing, and new post-pandemic commitments.

Residents live a clean and healthy lifestyle in the form of eating healthy and nutritious food, exercising regularly, getting enough rest, and avoiding stress. Making cities livable is a must, not an option. (Jambi Data/Distribution)
