The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that rice production in 2021 in all districts and cities of Jambi Province has decreased.

Rice production for Tebo Regency in 2021 was recorded at 25,994.79 tons. This figure has decreased by about 8.64 percent or 2,245.16 tons compared to 2020 which was 23,749.63 tons.

The main data source used by BPS in collecting data on food crops in Indonesia is through the Agricultural Survey (SP) and Tile Survey. There are two types of questionnaires used in the Agricultural Survey, namely the SP-Padi to collect information on the area of rice planted and the SP-Palawija to collect information about the planted area of secondary crops. This Agricultural Survey is collected monthly from all sub-districts.

As for the production through the Tile Survey conducted by BPS, which is adjusted to the harvest schedule. The questionnaire used for the Tile Survey is called SUB-S.

The decline in production was also due to a decrease in harvested area. The decrease in harvested area for Tebo Regency itself from 5,717.21 Ha in 2020 to 4,845.03 Ha in 2021. In other words, the decline in harvested area in Tebo Regency is 15.25 percent. The harvested area data was obtained by BPS by conducting the Integrated Food Crops Agricultural Statistics Data Collection with the Area Sample Framework (KSA) Method.

This data collection is carried out on the last seven days of each month.

According to Andi Afriansyah Yusra, S.P as Functional Plant Seed Supervisor at the Department of Horticulture and Food Security in Tebo Regency, this decline occurred due to delays in plants in 2021 which resulted in harvesting in 2022. In addition, in 2021 floods occurred at several points which resulted in rice fields experiencing fuso (harvest failure). However, although the harvested area and production in Tebo Regency have decreased, from a rice productivity perspective (tons/ha) there has been an increase from 45.47 in 2020 to 49.02 tons/ha in 2021. Rice productivity in Tebo Regency itself has succeeded in shifting Kerinci Regency. and occupies the third largest position in Jambi Province. It is expected that rice productivity in Tebo Regency will continue to increase. This is because in addition to rice which is the staple food for the community, the agricultural business field is still the foundation and hope for employment.

Judging from the Gross Regional Domestic Income (GRDP) of Tebo Regency in 2021 it is also still dominated by the contribution of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries sub-sectors of 53.81 percent. (Jambi Data/Distribution)
