In August 2022, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) again carried out the National Labor Force Survey or commonly known as Sakernas. Sakernas is a survey specifically designed to collect data related to employment, Sakernas is carried out throughout Indonesia twice a year (semester), namely in February and August. As a routine survey conducted by BPS, Sakernas is one of the main sources of employment data in Indonesia. The Sakernas data has been widely used by various groups, both at home and abroad. Therefore, the continuity of the availability and quality of Sakernas data must be maintained and improved.
In general, the purpose of collecting Sakernas August 2022 data is to provide sustainable basic employment data. Meanwhile, in particular, Sakernas August 2022 aims to obtain estimated data on the number of working people, the number of unemployed and indicators of the working population, the number of unemployed, and other employment indicators, as well as representative developments at the national, provincial and district/city levels. In addition, Sakernas August 2022 also has a specific purpose to collect information related to the impact of Covid-19 on labor conditions in Indonesia.
Sakernas August 2022 was held in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still difficult to predict when it will end.
For this reason, in the implementation of Sakernas in August 2022, starting from the instrument preparation stage, instructor training, officer training, field implementation, to evaluation of activities, the business processes are adjusted to the conditions of the Covid-19 pandemic.
All stages of activities must implement strict health protocols, while maintaining the quality of the data produced.
The implementation of the August 2022 Sakernas field will take place in the period 25 July 2022-31 August 2022.
There are two major activities in the implementation of the Sakernas field in August 2022, namely updating activities and enumeration activities. The updating activity is carried out to update households in the Census Block which is the scope of Sakernas August 2022. After obtaining the results of updating the households, then a sampling is carried out to select households for which further enumeration activities will be carried out.
In Batang Hari Regency itself, there are 56 Census Blocks covered by the August 2022 Sakernas spread across 8 sub-districts. A total of 28 officers consisting of 19 Field Enumerators (PCL) and 9 Field Inspectors (PML) were deployed for the implementation of the Sakernas field in August 2022. All officers have previously been selected and given training in advance to understand the concepts and definitions used during field implementation. In order to make Sakernas August 2022 a success, of course, support from various parties is needed, especially support from the community as the object of data collection. The households that were selected as respondents in the August 2022 Sakernas are expected to be able to receive the officers well and give honest, truthful answers, and in accordance with actual conditions.
Respondents do not need to worry about the confidentiality of information, because all answers given are guaranteed to be confidential and are only used for development planning purposes.
Through this support, the community has assisted the government in efforts to realize higher quality employment data as one of the "compasses" in the preparation of development policies. (Jambi/BPS Batang Hari data)
