Beautiful Village and Goddess; Hope for Village Development Awareness Through Data

Beautiful Village and Goddess; Hope for Village Development Awareness Through Data

October 10, 2022 | Other Activities

Indonesia's sustainable development in recent years has made the government pay considerable attention to rural areas. Government awareness of the role of a village as the smallest unit of government organization in providing a vital impact on regional development in various sectors. In the concept of thinking of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo "building from the periphery" is increasingly being respected and the government through the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia carries out the function of monitoring village development by conducting a village fund policy review meeting in 2022 and village fund policy planning for 2023 in June 2022. . The focus set is on improving budgeting policies, improving allocation policies by paying attention to village performance, determining the focus of using Village Funds that are synchronized with national priorities, and improving the mechanism for distributing Village Funds, as well as the mechanism for applying sanctions in case of deviations from Village Funds. In line with the government's focus, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) since 2021 has also given the same attention, namely seeing Villages no longer as objects of development but as subjects of development. BPS then designed a sectoral statistical development program called the Desa Cinta Statistik (Desa Cantik) Program. By targeting as many as 100 pilot village areas, Desa Cantik is the program of choice for BPS, which is predicted to be a suitable program for bureaucratic reform in rural areas, especially awareness of the importance of data. For the smooth implementation of the Beautiful Village program, BPS is not alone but partners with the Ministry of Rural and Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, which of course already recognizes the potential of villages in Indonesia.

Then what is the target of Beautiful Village? The main goal is to create a village that has accurate data that can be processed into a statistical activity by involving village officials. After that, the village apparatus will involve other devices to update the required data. Examples of data collected are population, gender, occupation, education, number of teachers, total income or economic level, clinics and hospitals, means of transportation, number of vehicles, community opinions and complaints, and many more examples of data that can be taken to complete data. Through the results of the data that has been collected, the data is then processed in such a way that the village government can know the profile or characteristics of each region. Even the village government can clearly see the potential, weaknesses, progress, and improvements needed by a village. It doesn't stop there, the results of data processing can also be used as material for evaluation or reviewing previous programs, finding points of success in using village funds, expanding facilities, and last but not least, data processing can be used as proposals or preparing village development plans in the future. . In Muaro Jambi Regency itself, the 2021 Beautiful Village program has been applied in Sengeti Village, Sekernan District. BPS together with the village apparatus focus on improving employee performance discipline data to produce a consumer satisfaction index (IKK) for Sengeti Village services. The election is intended to supervise and improve Human Resources for government employees in rural areas. The program which was held in June – October 2021 has resulted in more disciplined HR behavior updates, performance improvements, and periodic updating of environmental data management information for leaders at the village level. Continuing the success of the Beautiful Village program in 2021, the Beautiful Village Program in 2022 is aimed at Solok Village, Kumpeh Ulu District, more specifically aimed at increasing literacy, awareness and the active role of village/kelurahan officials and the community in organizing statistical activities by forming statistical agents. at the village level, so that village officials and the community can optimize the utilization/use of data to create village development programs that depart or are based on good quality data processing and statistical indicators. However, the implementation of the Beautiful Village program is not smooth (guys). There are still problems here and there. The village distance is quite far and the density of village programs must also be adjusted to the range of implementation of the Beautiful Village program. Understanding the awareness of the importance of data is still low and the quality of human resources is a challenge for BPS to develop selected village officials to manage data. Intense communication both directly and indirectly and making WAG a means of monitoring and sharing knowledge on data management continues to be carried out.

It's not easy, but it's not giving up either (is it?)

It is hoped that the Beautiful Village 2022 program can provide much better output, namely so that villages have the ability to produce statistical products independently as determining information in the village development process in the economic, education, cultural, and tourism sectors. Specifically for the development of the tourism sector, for the year 2023, BPS has prepared a Statistical Awareness Tourism Village program (Dewi Cantik) as a form of support for the implementation of the 2009 Law of the Republic of Indonesia on Tourism aimed at alleviating poverty. BPS sees that statistical data is very important as a tool to support the development of Tourism Villages from the pioneering stage of Tourism Villages. For example, is there an interesting area that can be used as a tourist attraction, the number of lodging service providers and food and beverage providers, roads to villages, places of worship, and so on. The data will be processed in such a way that it can be input for the village government to prepare the village to become a tourist village. Even in the future, it is very possible to have statistical data showing village developments that can be used as a promotional tool or branding a village that is worthy of becoming a tourist village. Want Beautiful Villages and Beautiful Goddess, let's manage data for village independence. Greetings statistics
