Abstract

Food crop statistics play a strategic role in the agricultural sector and are used by the government as a basis for formulating development policies in Indonesia, particularly those related to food security. Each month, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) collects data on rice harvest area through the Area Sample Frame (ASF) Survey, a collaborative initiative involving BPS, the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT), the National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN)—now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)—the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/BPN), and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG). Meanwhile, productivity data, which serves as a multiplier for harvested area to calculate rice production, is obtained through the Crop Cutting Survey. The Executive Summary Paddy Harvested Area And Production in Jambi Province 2024 (Final Figures) presents concise information on rice and milled rice harvested area and production figures for the periods of January–December 2023 and 2024, as well as potential estimates for January–April 2025. We hope this report provides an accurate representation of field conditions in terms of harvested area and rice production. It is our expectation that the rice statistics obtained through the ASF and Crop Cutting methods will be of great benefit to the nation, particularly as a foundation for policy-making to achieve food security through rice self-sufficiency.
